3 robbers arrested in Tangail

A robbery took place in a Jamalpur-bound passenger bus from Dhaka at Kalihati upazila in Tangail. The police arrested three people from Mymensingh Link Road on Dhaka-Bangabandhu Bridge Highway on Monday afternoon while escaping after robbery. The detained are Ruhul Amin (30) son of Mannan of Kathalia upazila of Jhalkathi district, Mizanur Rahman (32) son of Minju Mia of Mirzapur upazila of Tangail and Sohan Ahmed (30) son of Sajjad Hossain of Jamalpur Sadar.
Confirming the truth of the incident, Mushfiq, Traffic Police Sergeant of Tangail District said, some cow traders boarded the S.S Travels bus from Chandra to Jamalpur.
After passing Mirzapur railway crossing, the robbers who are in disguise of general passenger started beaten up the cattle dealers and looted their money. Later, the cattle dealers called the emergency number 999 and the control room informed us about the bus robbery.
He also said that after receiving the information, the Highway Thana Police stopped the bus at Mymensingh Link Road in the evening. At that time, two members of the robbery group tried to escape, but one of them was arrested. Besides, the bus driver and helper have also been arrested for their involvement in the robbery. The arrested have been handed over to Kalihati police station.
In this regard, Molla Azizur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kalihati Police Station said that the bus used by the robbers was seized and fifty thousand was recovered.
