The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced on Saturday the 15-member Bangladesh One Day International (ODI) squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Afghanistan. Opener Afif Hossain and Naim Sheikh retuned to the squad. Ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been included in the squad after recovered from finger injury. Dashing opener Tamim Iqbal also has been included. Tamim Iqbal was suffering from a back pain for a long time. Bangladesh Test team played against Afghanistan in the lone Test match without their regular Captain Shakib Al Hasan. Anamul Haque Bijoy was not called for the forthcoming ODI matches. Yasir Ali, Rony Talukdar and Mrittunjoy Chowdhury have been dropped from the squad. Veteran Mahmudullah Riyad was not also included in the squad. In absence of Shakib Al Hasan, Wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das led Bangladesh Test team against Afghanistan Test team. Bangladesh achieved a massive 546-run victory over Afghanistan in the one-off Test match on Saturday. Bangladesh notched up a highest margin win in their Test campaign. It is Bangladesh’s new record in their Test mission.
Afghanistan team will leave the city for India after conceding a huge-margin defeat. Afghanistan ODI team are scheduled to return to Bangladesh on July 1 to play three-match ODI series against Bangladesh and two Twenty20 International (T20I) matches against Bangladesh.
Bangladesh will take on Afghanistan in the first ODI at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on July 5. The Tigers will face Afghanistan in the second ODI at the same venue on July 8. Bangladesh will meet Afghanistan in the third ODI at the same venue on July 11.
Bangladesh will take on Afghanistan in the first T20I at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on July 14, the Tigers will face Afghanistan in the second T20I at the same venue on July 16.
