Yasmeen Ahmed new president of WEA

Yasmeen Ahmed, a proprietor of Herald Traders has been elected as the President of Women Entrepreneurs Association (WEA) for a two-years term from 2026 to 2028.

She outlined her vision and commitment to advancing women entrepreneurs, placing particular emphasis on supporting youth, creating development opportunities.

Rokia Afzal Rahman, who also served as an advisor to the caretaker government in 2001 and was the founder of WEA.

The election was held on 25 July 2026 in Dhaka, organised by the executive committee of the association at Baridhara Cosmopolitan Club.

Nilufar Siddiqa and Aniza Chowdhury were elected senior vice-president and vice-president respectively, while Mahjabeen Akhter Nazia and Fahmida Sultana Anthony were elected general secretary and joint secretary, respectively of the new executive committee.

Aklima Sultana Sony and Arshia Naz Tabassum were elected treasurer and joint treasurer, respectively.
Roxana Anwar, Ayesha Siddiqua, Seema Atia Reza, Rummana Perveen, Farhana S. Chowdhury were elected as board directors of the new committee.

Khadija Afzal, a business entrepreneur, Sheezan Khan, an entrepreneur, immediate past president of WEA, Qauser Jahan Farida Moni, an entrepreneur, Nilufer Karim, freelance consultant, gender and management specialist and Dr. Rubina Husain, managing director & center head of the institute of hotel management & hospitality, (IHMH) will serve as advisers for the 2026-2028 term.
