Action if private dengue test fee surpass Tk 500: DGHS

Staff Reporter :
The Directorate General of the Health Services (DGHS) has fixed dengue test charge at a maximum of Tk 500 at private hospitals.

It warned the hospitals of punitive measures if any of them charges dengue testing fees above the fix rate.

The DGHS announced the decision at a press briefing at its office in the capital on Sunday.

“Strict actions will be taken against the hospitals which would collect extra charges crossing the fixed rate,” Professor Dr Ahmedul Kabir, Additional Director General of the DGHS, warned.

Meanwhile, Tk 100 is fixed for the government hospitals for the purpose.

The ADG of the DGHS said that, they have provided a guideline for dengue treatment including the test.

“Everyone must treat patients according to these guidelines. There are also directions for platelet use,” Professor Dr Ahmedul Kabir said.

Dr Nazmul Islam, Director of the disease control department of the DGHS, said at the briefing that Cox’s Bazar has the second-highest number of dengue patients after Dhaka. He said the dengue infection is increasingly spreading among the Rohingya people in the region.
