Female inmate commits suicide in Mymensingh Central Jail

A female inmate named Farzana Akhtar (22) committed suicide in Mymensingh Central Jail. The incident took place at the District Jail on Monday at half past two in the afternoon.

The victim committed suicide by twisting the veil around her neck in the back of the tin shed room inside the prison.
She was rescued and taken to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital where the doctor on duty declared her dead. The deceased Farzana Akhter is the wife of Abdul Halim of Chandapara area of Char Yatarthpur village of Jamalpur Sadar Upazila. Mymensingh Central Jail Senior Jail Superintendent Jahanara Begum confirmed this information and said that Farzana Akhtar was a convict of Jamalpur District Jail.
