Price fall in large-cap drives stocks further down

Country’s both the bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) – on Monday plunged further due to mainly price fall in large-cap securities.
DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went down by 3.30 points or 0.05 percent to 6,260.09. Two other indices also ended low with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, plunged 4.42 points to finish at 2,185.83 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) lost 2.76 points to close at 1,366.17.
Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, increased to Taka 6,539.96 million, which was Taka 6,364.95 million at the previous session of the week, reports, BSS.
Out of 347 issues traded, 86 declined, 70 advanced and 191remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
GEMINISEA topped the turnover chart, followed by SEAPEARL, BSC, CVOPRL and Rupali Life.
MEGHNAINS was the day’s top gainer, posting 10 percent gain while GEMINISEA was the worst loser, losing 7.49 per cent.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended sharply lower with the CSE All Share Price Index – CASPI -losing 30.97 points to settle at 18,435.61 and the Selective Categories Index – CSCX shedding 20.65 points to close at 11,037.53.
Of the issues traded, 71 declined, 46 advanced and 81 issues remained unchanged on the CSE.
The port city’s bourse traded 22.69 lakh shares and mutual fund units with turnover value worth about Taka 8.01 crore.
