KMP pays tribute to July martyrs

The Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) on Wednesday paid tribute to those who lost their lives during the July 2024 mass uprising by placing wreaths at the Martyrs’ Memorial at Shibbari intersection in the city.

Police Commissioner Md Sazzadur Rahman led the tribute by laying a wreath at the memorial.

Through the ceremony, KMP reaffirmed its commitment to upholding peace, justice, humanity and the rule of law, inspired by the sacrifices of the July martyrs.

In a statement, KMP said those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the struggle for freedom, justice, rights and the aspirations of the people would forever remain an enduring part of the nation’s history.

Their sacrifices, it added, would continue to inspire future generations and serve as a guiding force in the country’s journey towards building a just and prosperous nation.

Among those present at the ceremony were Muhammad Shahnewaz Khaled, PPM (Service), Additional Police Commissioner (Traffic and Protocol), who is also in charge of Administration and Finance; M M Shakiluzzaman, Deputy Police Commissioner (Headquarters), who is also in charge of F&B.

Recently promoted to the rank of Additional DIG, he is currently serving as the Acting Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Operations). Senior KMP officials also attended the programme.
