10 killed in separate road crashes in 4 districts

At least 10 people, including four in Satkhira, were killed and many others injured in separate road crashes across the country on Wednesday.
In Satkhira, at least four people, including a mother and a newborn, were killed in a head-on collision between an ambulance and an oil truck.
The accident took place on the Satkhira-Khulna highway near Mirzapur Bazar around 3:30 pm on Wednesday.
Patkelghata Police OC (Investigation) Biswajit Kumar confirmed the matter to the media on Wednesday night. The deceased have been identified as Tanjila Khatun (40), wife of one Ataul Islam of Khalishani village of Asashuni upazila of Satkhira, one-day-old baby girl, her elder daughter’s husband Dalim Hossain of Naranpur village of Satkhira Sadar. The other deceased person is Tajijul Islam.
In Habiganj, at least three people were killed in a head-on collision between an auto-rickshaw and a private car in Habiganj’s Nabiganj upazila.
The accident took place on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway in the Fultali Bazar area of the upazila on Wednesday afternoon.
The deceased are Abdal Mia of Bhabanipur village of Bahubal upazila of Habiganj, Sohel Mia of Badshagaon village of Chunarughat upazila and Manik Mia of Muraura village of Nabiganj upazila.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sherpur Highway Police Station Parimal said that two people died on the spot and five more people were injured. Another one of the injured died after being taken to hospital. He also said that the police have impounded two vehicles involved in the accident.
In Chattogram, two people were killed when a container from a running lorry fell on a rickshaw at Patenga area of Chattogram on Wednesday.
The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Patenga Police Station Zayed Noor confirmed the matter.
In Patuakhali, a child named Yamin Hossain (7) was killed after falling from his father’s trolley in Baufal upazila of the district.
The accident took place on the northern slope of Hogla Bridge in Baga Union of the upazila on Wednesday around 11:15.
