Sheikh Jamal beat Legends of Rupganj Dhaka Abahani taste second defeat in DPL

Dhaka Abahani Limited tasted second defeat in Dhaka Premier League as they lost to Gazi Group Cricketers by six wickets (according to Duckworth-Lewis-Stern Method) in their Super League match at BKSP Ground-3 in Savar on Wednesday.

Dhaka Abahani Limited led the points table gaining 26 points from 15 matches, while Gazi Group Cricketers took the fifth position bagging 15 points from as many matches.

Electing to bat first, Dhaka Abahani Limited piled up a fighting total of 246 off 47.2 overs.

Later, rain interrupted the match and Gazi Group Cricketers had a revised target of 214 in 45 overs to win.
Gazi Group Cricketers scored 215 for the loss of four wickets in 41.4 overs.

Asadullah Al Galib of Gazi Group Cricketers remained unbeaten with 85 runs. His 95-ball innings had 11 fours. He was adjudged the Man of the Match for his match-winning innings.

SM Meherob hit a fine 52. His 67-ball knock was laced with three sixes and two fours.

Opener Mehedi Maruf hit a worthy 30. His 19-ball innings was ornamented with five fours and a sixer.

Tanvir Islam of Dhaka Abahani Limited bagged two wickets at the cost of 50 runs, while Khushdil Shah and Rakibul Hasan took one wicket each conceding 30 and 43 runs respectively.

Earlier, Mohammad Naim, Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Anamul Haque of Dhaka Abahani Limited shone with the willow.
Naim notched up a superb 61. His 64-ball innings was decorated with six fours and two sixes.

Mahmudul Hasan made 48 from 54 balls featuring five fours and a sixer.
Anamul Haque scored 43 from 56 deliveries hitting two fours and a sixer.

Tipu Sultan of Gazi Group Cricketers was his team’s most successful bowler with four wickets instead of 47 runs.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited defeated Legends of Rupganj by 59 runs (according to the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern Method) at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah on Wednesday.

Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club took the second position grabbing 26 points from 15 matches, while Legends of Rupganj took the fourth position with 18 points from as many outings.

Batting first Sheikh Jamal piled up a mammoth total of 350 for the loss of five wickets and then restricted Legends of Rupganj to 255 for the loss of seven wickets in 46.1 overs. As rain interrupted the match, Legends of Rupganj had a revised target of 314 runs in 46.1 overs to win.

Opener Shykat Ali of Sheikh Jamal hit a terrific 108. His 81-ball innings was laced with 10 fours and five sixes. He was adjudged the Man of the Match for his outstanding performance.
