At least 70 villagers were injured including women and children in a clash between two groups of Ghazaria and Banshgari villages of Bhairab upazila of Kishoreganj led Rafiq and Shahid allegedly over land dispute and establishing supremacy in the locality.
The clash took place on Saturday evening. As a result, clashes broke out again on Sunday.
Bhairab Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Makchudul Alam confirmed the matter.
According to Police and locals, there was a dispute over the land of Shaheed and Rafiq of the child member’s house in Banshgari village. Rafiq informed his cousin’s husband Qasem Miah of Ghazaria village. After Saturday evening, when Kasem Mia went to his father-in-law’s house in Banshgari village with some people to talk about the land issue, an argument broke out between the two parties. At some point it turned into a conflict. Kasem and two others named Morad and Anwar were injured in this. At night they took first aid from Bhairab Upazila Health Complex. However, when Kasem’s condition deteriorated, he was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
The serious injured are Nazrul, Mostafa, Siraj, Danish, kabir,Rejaul, Rubel, Tohin Chsnd Miah, Gias,Zakaria Renuka,Baby and Rahiman. They were admitted to loca hospital and private clinics.
Many houses belonging to member of both groups were also vandalised during the clash.
As a rejult of this incident, the people of the villages clashed with different weapons including da,ballab, tenta, bricks, bambo, Hockeystick etc.
Ghazaria UP chairman Abdus Salam said that, they had a family quarrel in Bashgari village, when the relatives of Ghazaria village were also involved in it.
Additional SP (Crime & Ops) Md.Al -Amin said that, Additional police deployed in the area and brought situation under control.
