Heavy rain drenches Dhaka, other parts of Bangladesh

News Desk :
As forecast by the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), several parts of the country including Dhaka witnessed heavy rainfall on Saturday afternoon.
Although the temperature was lower than before, heatwaves continued in some parts of the country.

By afternoon, the sky of Dhaka also became cloudy and started raining after 3pm. There has been light rain in some places and heavy rain in other parts.
Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department on Saturday forecast that a low-pressure area might develop over Southeast Bay and adjoining areas within the next 24 hours.

The extended portion of the low pressure is currently located in West Bengal and its surrounding areas, said the met office in its 9am weather bulletin.
Due to the impact of the low-pressure system, temporary heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds is expected in some parts of Khulna, Barisal and Chittagong divisions, said meteorologist Md Monowar Hossain.

He said “Hailstorms may also occur sporadically in some places. Apart from that, the weather in other parts of the country may remain predominantly dry with partly cloudy skies. Day and night temperatures may increase slightly across the country over the next 24 hours”.
“The low-pressure area that will form within three days may intensify further,” added Monowar.
