JU student found hanging in dormitory, family received body

A student of Jahangirnagar University (JU) reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at Mir Mosharraf Hossain Hall of the university on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Siam Mohammad Arafat, student of Physics department under the academic session 2015-16 (45th batch) of the university.
He was a resident of Mir Mosharraf Hossain and hailed from Chilahati, Nilphamari. His hanging body was recovered around at 7 pm.
Dr. Mohammad Obaidur Rahman, provost of Mir Mosharraf Hossain Hall confirmed the matter.
According to Siam’s hallmates, one of his friends went to his room and knocked on the door after Magrib prayer. Without getting a response, he peeked through the window and saw something hanging inside. Later, after breaking the window, Siam’s body was found hanging from the ceiling fan.
After breaking the door, he was immediately taken to the university medical centre. The doctor on duty declared him dead.
Earlier, he posted a status on his social media Facebook in the early hours of April 3. There he discussed various topics of spiritual practice, death, soul, body, purpose of life, meditation etc.
Proctor of the university A S M Firoz-ul- Hasan said, “We have already reached out to one of his family members. Any further decisions will be taken later according to their wishes”.
