Everyone’s favourite Diti’s birthday today

Sheikh Arif Bulbon :
Today, March 31, is the birthday of late popular film actress Parvin Sultana Diti. Diti last celebrated her birthday on March 31, 2015 with her family and several stars from the film industry. On July 24 of that year, she fell ill and went to Chennai, India. But even after treatment, she could not recover later. And thus, suffering
from disease, Diti passed away on March 20 in 2016. Last March 20 was Diti’s seventh death anniversary.
In 2017, Bangladesh Film Artistes’ Association held a discussion meeting titled ‘Shilpi Hridoye Diti’ on the first death anniversary of Diti under the initiative of the then vice president Omar Sunny and general
secretary Amit Hasan. And later Milad Mahfil was held. After that, no special Milad Mahfil and
discussion programme were organised on Diti.
Meanwhile, Diti’s son Deepto and daughter Lamia
have asked for prayers for their mother on the occasion
of her birthday today. Diti is indeed gone, but she
will live on forever in the hearts of her devout
viewers, relatives and friends.
Diti was involved with music from a very young age.
As a child, she was awarded nationally in the competition organised by Shishu Academy. That’s why she wanted to be a singer long before becoming an actress. After one day of singing on BTV, she came across Al Mansur. He found Diti and cast her in the drama titled ‘Laily Majnu’ opposite Manos Bandyopadhyay. After the broadcast of the drama, the audience responded well. Then, Diti fully involved
herself in the movie through the talent hunt programme titled ‘Notun Mukher Sondhane’ at BFDC.
It is noted that Diti’s first movie was ‘Dak Diye Jai’ directed by late director Udayan Chowdhury. Afzal Hossain
was her hero in this movie. But even though 80 per cent of the movie was done, the cinema was not released in the end.
Diti starred her first released movie was ‘Ami-e Ustad’ directed by late director Azmal Huda Mithu. Diti won the National Film Award for the first time for her performance in ‘Swami Stri’ directed by late director Subhash Dutta.
Diti’s first single song album ‘Tomar O Chokhe’ was released under the banner of ‘Anupam’. After that, she
lent her voice for playback songs in a couple of films,
but she did not make an album. After a long time, Diti’s second solo album titled ‘Firey Jeno Ashi’ came out under
the banner of ‘Lesser Vision’. This album was also
very successful during that time.
