AL creates reign of fear in Bangladesh: BNP
Staff Reporter :
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Sunday alleged that the ruling Awami League has created a reign of fear and terror in the country.
“The People neither write truth, nor speak truth, because Sheikh Hasina-led Awami League has created a reign of fear and terror in
Bangladesh. The people who always speak truth are now become silent. They don’t protest injustice and unfairness of the ruling party,” the BNP leader said.
“Lots of television channels and newspapers are on broadcasting in the country, but they don’t dare to write or show the news reports of political dissidents,” he said.
Mirza Fakhrul was adressing as the chief guest at a discussion, titled “There is no alternative to hold election under a non-party neutral government to ensure democracy on the soil of Bangladesh” at Dhaka Reporters Unity’s Nasrul Hamid Auditorium at Segun Bagicha in the capital. Jatiya Ganatantrik Party (Jagpa) organised the discussion.
Taking part in the discussion, Mirza Fakhrul said Awami League always utter democracy, but believes in autocracy. They are frauds and hypocrites.
“If the situation in Bangladesh continues without democracy, it will be very ill-fated for the nation. We have never seen such an inhuman and barbaric ruler in our lifetime,” he said. Mirza Fakhrul also alleged that Sheikh Hasina-led government has hatched a plan to hold conspiratorial poll in the country again.
“It is clear that we will not keep our feet in their traps of conspiracy anymore. We will not allow to hold any conspiratorial election in Bangladesh anymore,” the BNP leader said.
Mirza Fakhrul also reminded that Awami League had introduced caretaker government in the country along with Jatiya Party and Jamaat-e-Islami. They even created anarchy throughout the country to press home this demand.
“They had burnt people alive spreading gunpowder in bus. Khaleda Zia’s government then introduced the caretaker government system for the sake of the nation, people and democracy,” the BNP leader said.
Referring to the Awami League’s soften attitude toward the opposition, Mirza Fakhrul said they (government) are pretending that they have allowed the opposition to hold meetings and rallies. But, these are their devilish attitudes. They think that the country’s people are foolish. But, the people will not keep their feet in their traps.
Jagpa President Khondker Lutfar Rahman chaired the discussion while it was moderated by its General Secretary SM Shahadat Hossain.
Dhaka City South BNP convener Abdus Salam, Dhaka City North BNP convener Amanullah Aman, NPP Chairman Dr Fariduzzaman Farhad, Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh Chairman Dr Nurul Amin Bepari, Ganadal Chairman ATM Golam Mowla Chowdhury, Democratic League’s Saifuddin Ahmed Moni and Bangladesh NAP’s SM Shaon Sadeki, among others, were present.
