Bangladesh U-20 women thrash Chinese Taipei

Bangladesh Under-20 Women’s Hockey team thrashed Chinese Taipei Under-20 Women’s Hockey team by seven goals to nil in their first match of the Junior Asia Cup (Women’s) at Moqi Training Ground in China on Saturday.

Simply saying the Bangladesh Women’s Under-20 Hockey team’s won not only an understatement, they showed their dominance.

Earlier Bangladesh Under-20 Men’s Hockey team lost to China Under-20 Men’s Hockey team by 2-3 goals in their first match of the Junior Asia Cup on Friday.

Though the Bangladesh Under-20 Men’s Hockey team had lead but they tasted defeat as the fate did not favour them.

Bangladesh Under-20 Women’s Hockey team will face off Pakistan Under-20 Women’s Hockey team in their second match of Junior Asia Cup (Women’s) at the same venue today.

Although Bangladesh Under-20 Women’s Hockey team did not find the net in the first quarter, they scored seven goals in the last three quarters.

Sharika Rimon, Irin Akhter, and Nadira Ema of Bangladesh Under-20 Women’s Hockey team scored two goals each for Bangladesh. The other goal was netted by Kona Akter.

Bangladesh took the lead in the 20th minute of the match with a field goal by Kona Akter. Players of Bangladesh Under-20 Women’s Hockey team organised attack in the third quarter and scored four more goals.

Ema and Irin scored two field goals each. Sharika made the first attack on Chinese Taipei’s defense in the fourth quarter.

She scored Bangladesh’s sixth goal from a penalty corner in the 51st minute. Six minutes later, Sharika completed her double from another penalty corner, making the team’s seventh goal.
