Conspiracy to grab land of sick expatriate in Hossainpur
Nilphamari Correspondent :
Allegation of grabbing land of a sick European expatriate at Dinajpur’s Khansama upazila has been revealed. The concern victim is Ali Mortuza, a former government employee, now resides in England with his elder son.
Sources said that the relative of the expatriate a Nilphamari-based contractor Firoz Ahmed has been giving continuous theat, attacking and filing false cases to grab the land. Ali Mortuza, now suffering from motor neuron disease, is owner of the 30 decimals of ancestral land of Hossainpur Mauja in the area. The land has been leased to local Ashraf Ali for many years. Ashraf Ali told this reporter that Ali Mortuza has been suffering from a complex brain disease for a decade. Among his three children, the eldest son and eldest daughter are expatriates in England and France. He and his wife have been staying with their eldest son Rajek Morshed for better treatment in London for several years. Her younger daughter is currently bedridden due to complications from an operation. Finding it as an opportunity, Ali Mortaza’s brother-in-law (husband of his sister) contractor Firoz Ahmed attacked to seize the crop land in December 2021.
After this he filed a false case against Mortuza’s sick daughter Sirajum Monira Sharmi and a total of 8 people including my wife, children and myself, said Ashraf Ali. I have been farming Ali Mortuza’s land for many years. He and his children cooperated most in the production of crops. Share croppers like me will not get shelter anymore if Firoz Ahmed went unpunished by the government.
Rajek Morshed told that his father took only 30 decimals of his grandfather’s land out of a vast poperty. His father gave the rest of the land to his uncles and aunties.
“My elder sister and I have been in France and England for an age. My father is also living with me in London with a terrible motor neurone disease. Our home in Nilphamari is also empty now. My younger sister also lives in Brahmanbaria with her husband and child. By the way, my relative Uncle contractor Feroze Ahmed along with my three aunties conspired to grab the land of our village. They attacked, filed false cases. We feel helpless from here brother, take our word to the concerned authorities, brother,” said Rajek Morshed.
Subinspector of Khansama police station Dibakor Ray said that such a case has come to us, after investigating the case directly and indirectly, we have found baseless allegations. The report has been submitted and we have mentioned the matter in it. I told Feroze not to do anything outside the law. When contacted, the contractor Firoz Ahmed said that he would not comment on the matter.
