Fire breaks out at plastic recycling factory in Savar

A fire broke out at a plastic recycling factory in Savar’s Vakurta union on Friday.
The incident took place at around 1:20pm. Seven firefighting units extinguished the flame after an hour of effort.
Fire Service and Civil Defence chief of the Savar Tannery Industrial Estate area Md Monowar Hossain said two firefighting units whisked off to the spot upon receiving information.
“As it was a plastic recycling factory, the fire spread quickly. Besides, we also faced shortages of water in the area. As a result, three firefighting units from Mohammadpur and two from Keraniganj fire service had to join us. After an hour of effort, we were able to bring the fire under control around 2:30pm,” he said.
The origin of the fire and the extent of the damage could not be known immediately.
