‘Maqsood – 45 Years in Music’ tomorrow

Maqsoodul Haque is a unique name in the
history of band music of Bangladesh. The concert titled ‘Maqsood – 45 Years in Music’ is going to
be held at Krishibid Institute Auditorium in the
capital’s Khamarbari area on March 18 at 6:30pm. On the occasion of celebrating 45 years of music life of popular band star Maqsoodul Haque, one of the pioneers of Bangladesh’s band music
movement. Universal Medical College is
organising the concert. Along with ‘Maqsood
O Dhaka,’ the bands ‘Miles,’ ‘Feedback,’ ‘Dalchut’
and ‘Pentagon’ will perform in the concert.
Band star Maqsood said about such an arrangement of the concert at this stage of life, “45 years
of a career in the life of an artiste does not come easily but it came into my life. I joined ‘Feedback’
in 1978. As such, I have turned 45 this year.
I have known Dr Ashis for more than three decades. I expressed to him the desire of such
an arrangement with my singing career. Ashis is a music lover and music crazy doctor. As soon as I told him this proposal, Dr Ashis and his Universal Medical College took charge of this concert with me. I am very confident that this arrangement around the music of my journey will
be completed with great success.”
While talking about arranging the concert,
the chief initiator of the concert and Managing Director of Universal Medical College and Hospital Dr Ashis Kumar Chakraborty told this correspondent, “I think this concert will play a leading role in encouraging the young generation to sing Bengali and get rid of the invasion of foreign culture. 45 years is a long time in the life of
a musician. We want to illuminate the colourful life of this talented artiste – Maqsoodul Haque. Although Universal Mediasil College is a private institution, it is exceptional because of its social and cultural responsibility and respect for the artiste. Basically this exceptional event has taken its initiative out of love. Besides, we will give honor to Maksoodul Haque through this event.”
