Simmons’ plan to put Australia under pressure
Bangladesh are leading the series 1-0 after defeating Australia by 9 wickets at the Mrrara Cricket Ground in Darwin on August 16.
The Tigers won the historic first Test within four days. It was for the first time Bangladesh registered a victory in Test cricket on Australian soil.
The Tigers are busy preparing for the final Test without breaking the streak of that historic victory.
Najmul Hossain Shanto and Co. have already started training at Great Barrier Reef Arena in Mackay.
After the Bangladesh Cricket team’s training session on Thursday, Head Coach of Bangladesh Cricket team Phil Simmons spoke about his plan for the final Test while he was facing the media at Mackay.
He is emphasijing on spending a long time batting to put Australia under pressure.
Explaining his plan, Simmons said, “Test cricket is a five-day game, and if my team can bat 110 overs in these five days, the opposing team will definitely be under pressure. So, that’s how I learned to play Test cricket.”
The Bangladesh Head Coach Phil Simmons wants to not only survive the wicket, but also put pressure on Australia by building a big total in the first innings.
In this context, Simmons said, “if some batters will bat, make a big score, it is always good to score big runs in the first innings, and then put the opponent under pressure.
My boys will also try to do that. “My boys will bat and score big runs in the first innings and make sure that the opposition have to work hard to reach my team’s score.”
The second and final Test will be held in Mackay from August 22 to August 26. If Bangladesh win the second and final Test against Australia, Bangladesh will win the two-match Test series 2-0.
On the other hand, if Australia can post victory over Bangladesh in the second Test, the two-match Test series will be ended 1-1.
The Tigers need just a draw in the second Test to win the two-match Test series 1-0. So, the Tigers are now not in under pressure.
