536 lives lost on the roads in February

There were about 3,630 road accidents across the country in the month of February that has just ended. At least 536 people lost their lives in these incidents. Another 3 thousand 904 people were injured. This information was given in the notification of a NGO named ‘Save the Road’ on Wednesday (March 1).
It is said that the highest number of road deaths occurred in bus accidents in February as 165 people were killed in 810 bus accidents across the country this month and 961 people were injured. Also 146 people were killed and 815 injured in 789 truck accidents.
However, the highest number of 1,112 motorcycle accidents occurred in the month just ended. In which 117 people were killed and 1,152 people were injured.
Besides, 919 accidents have occurred in different types of illegal
vehicles including CNG, Nasimon, Karimon. At least 108 people were killed and 976 people were injured in these incidents.
The report signed by Shanta Farzana, Secretary General of Save the Road, informed that they have made this report based on 17 national dailies, 22 online news portals, 21 television stations, volunteers of the organization and local eyewitnesses’s information.
The data of the period from February 1st to 28th has been presented in the report.
