Bangladesh take on England in 1st ODI today

Bangladesh Cricket team will take on England Cricket team in the first One Day International (ODI) match at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in the city’s Mirpur today. The match will start at 12.00pm (Bangladesh Standard Time). Private satellite channel GTV and private satellite sports channel T Sports will telecast the match live from the venue.
Before today’s match, Bangladesh and England faced each other in 21 ODI matches. Of them, Bangladesh won four matches, while England registered 17 victories.
It may be mentioned that Chandika Hathurusingha is now the Head Coach of Bangladesh Cricket team. This is for the second time Hathurusingha has been named as the Head Coach of the Tigers.
Earlier, Chandika acted as Head Coach of Bangladesh Cricket team from 2014 to 2017. During his job Bangladesh played in the semi-final of the ICC Champions Trophy in 2017. Bangladesh reached the quarter-final of ICC World Cup 2015.
Besides, Bangladesh defeated Pakistan, India, South Africa in the ODI series at home. Bangladesh beat England, Australia in Test cricket. Bangladesh defeated Sri Lanka in Colombo under supervision of Head Coach Chandika Hathurusingha.
Hathurusingha spoke to the journalists at the SBNCS on Tuesday. Chandika said, ” My boys played aggressive cricket in my first tenure. There are lot of opportunities to play aggressive cricket. My boys will try to present aggressive cricket during their fielding, bowling and batting against England team.”
Bangladesh Cricket team took part in practice under supervision of Hathurusingha for a few time. Hathurusingha said, ” I think my boys have taken a good preparation. They played an intra-practice match, which helped them to take groundwork for the upcoming ODI series. I am impressed to watch their commitment.”
The three-match ODI series against England is a part of ICC ODI Super League.
Bangladesh overcame full-fledged India by 2-1 in their three-match ODI series recently.
England Cricket team are the defending world champions.
He said, ” They are the world champions. There are depth of talented cricketers in this team. We want to watch where we are now staying. We want to see our position. We want to fulfill our weakness after watching our performance in this series. If my boys perform well in this condition, it will give them self-confidence.”
There are five pacers and three spinners in England squad.
Chandika said, ” It will be a challenge to face the pace-attack of England team. I hope my boys will make a good start and perform well in batting and also bowling.”
Ace all-rounder Moeen Ali said, ” Which team are favourites, it is nothing. Bangladesh played well in their home conditions. But we are the world champions. Earlier, we showed a respectable performance against Bangladesh here.
We have got Jofra Archer, Mark Wood in our squad. So, before ending the series, which team are favourites, is not a factor.”
