Inaugural ceremony of Sheikh Kamal 2nd Bangladesh Youth Games to be held on Feb 26

The inaugural ceremony of the Sheikh Kamal 2nd Bangladesh Youth Games will be held at the Bangladesh Army Stadium in the city’s Banani on February 26. The sponsor of the Games is Bangladesh Association of Banks, while Saif Powertec and Walton are the co-sponsors.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, MP, will formally open the gala sports competition as the chief guest. The concluding ceremony will be held at the same venue on March 4. President of Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) and Chief of Army Staff of Bangladesh Army General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed will be present at the concluding ceremony as the chief guest.
A colourful torch rally will be held marking the Games. General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed will lit the torch at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s Graveyard premises in Tungipara of Gopalganj District today. Then, the torch will be brought through some districts and then it will arrive at BOA Bhaban in Dhaka. Then, the torch will be brought in front of Sheikh Kamal’s Mural at Dhaka Abahani Limited’s premises in the city’s Dhanmondi. After that, the torch will be fetched to the Bangladesh Army Stadium. Sprinter Imranur Rahman and Karateka Marzan Akter will lit the torch of the Games there.
Marking the upcoming final round of Sheikh Kamal 2nd Bangladesh Youth Games, a press conference was held at the Dutch-Bangla Bank Auditorium in Bangladesh Olympic Association Bhaban on Wednesday. Vice-President of BOA Sheikh Bashir Ahmed Mamun, Secretary General of BOA Syed Shahed Reza, Deputy-Secretary General of BOA Ashiqur Rahman Miku, Chief Coordinator of the Games Brigadier General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui, Member Secretary of the Technical Sub-Committee of the Games AK Sarkar were present at the conference.
 A total of 4000 athletes will compete in 24 disciplines. The participants will battle for 193 gold medals, 193 silver medals and 287 bronze medals.
Fastest woman of Bangladesh Shirin Akhter will conduct the oath-ceremony in the inaugural ceremony, while FIFA elite referee Tayeb Hasan Shamsuzzaman will conduct the oath-ceremony for the judges.
