Smell of mango flowers spreads in air of Ishwardi

The mango trees in Ishwardi’s have started to bud. However, compared to last year, new leaves have grown less this year. The trees have started to bud. On Sunday, the garden can be seen on the open ground, along with the beauty of the buds on the mango trees, the fragrance of the buds is spreading in the air.
According to Upazila Agriculture Office, not all trees have budded yet. Some trees are just beginning to bud. Farmers and Agriculture Department said that there is no doubt about mango production this year. Rainfall in the previous season reduced the amount of carbon in the tips of plant branches, resulting in more new leaves. Almost every garden had more or less new leaves on the trees. This time the amount of new leaves is very less. And at the right time the mango buds have started coming. The agriculture department has hoped that the production of mangoes will increase this year.
Jiyaul Kabir, a mango farmer of Aoutapara, said, I visited many gardens in the area. I found buds on most of the mango trees. So far 40% of the mango trees have budded. Within the next week, most plants will bud. Mango farmers are busy tending mango orchards. At the end of Magh, at the beginning of Phalgun, the buds will be blown out by the hot air. Farmers are very busy with advance care in the hope of increased yield.
Mango farmers said that we are spraying mango trees with pesticides and vitamins for increased yield and to keep the mangoes free from insects and color. May the buds be more and better. Before this, I irrigated the roots of the plants with organic fertilizers.
Hasan Sheikh, a mango farmer of Salimpur, said, I have started caring for all the small and big trees by cleaning the weeds and using fertilizers and vitamins. Besides, we are spraying with insecticides to control insects. This will suppress insects and healthy buds will appear on the tree.
Many varieties of mangoes are grown in Ishwardi including Khirsa, Himsagar, Fazli, Totapuri, Lan Bhog, Ashwina, Gopalbhog, Amrapali, Katimon, Bari-4. As mango prices were good last year, interest in mango tree care has increased this year.
Upazila Agriculture Officer Mita Sarkar said that mangoes have been planted in 560 hectares of land. Which is more than last time. If the weather is favourable, the yield is likely to be good. He said that the farmers are being advised and supported on our behalf.
