Bangladesh lose to Lanka

Bangladesh Women’s Cricket team lost to Sri Lanka Women’s Cricket team by seven wickets in their Group-1 match of the ICC Women’s Twenty20 World Cup at Cape Town in South Africa on Monday.
Chasing Bangladesh’s total of 126 for eight wickets in the stipulated 20 overs, Sri Lanka sailed home making 129 for the loss of three wickets with 10 balls remaining.
Bangladesh had an awful start as opener Murshida Khatun (0) was run out by Inoka Ranaweera when Bangladesh’s score was eight.
Opener Shamima Sultana and one-down Sobhana Mostary repaired the damage contributing together 28 runs before Shamima was caught behind by wicketkeeper Sanjeewani off Ranasinghe when Bangladesh’s total was 36 for the loss of two wickets.
Shamima made 20 from 13 balls featuring four fours.
After Shamima’s dismissal, Sobhana Mostary and Nigar Sultana built another remarkable partnership. They added together 35 runs in the third wicket stand before Sobhana Mostary was bowled out by Chamari Athapaththu when Bangladesh’s score was 71 for the loss of three wickets.
Mostary hit a respectable 29. Her 32-ball innings saw five fours.
Then, Nigar Sultana and Lata Mondal contributed together 24 runs for the fourth wicket partnership before Nigar Sultana was caught at the deep midwicket by Madavi off Ranasinghe when Bangladesh’s total was 95 for the loss of four wickets.
Nigar Sultana scored a fine 28 from 34 balls including one four.
After Nigar’s departure, Bangladesh failed to make any notable partnership.
Oshadi Ranasinghe captured three wickets in the space of 23 runs, while Chamari Athapaththu claimed two wickets at the cost of 19 runs and Inoka Ranaweera took one wicket for 18 runs.
Later, Marufa Akter restored some parity for her country grabbing three wickets instead of 23 runs.
Marufa Akter gave an early breakthrough as opener Athapaththu was caught at the mid-on by Lata Mondal when Sri Lanka’s score was 17.
One-down Vishmi Gunaratne was caught & bowled by Marufa Akter when the islanders’ total was 25 for the loss of two wickets.
Marufa struck again as Anushka Sanjeewani, the second-down batter of Sri Lanka was bowled out by Marufa when Sri Lanka’s score was 25 for the loss of three wickets.
Opener Samarawickrama and third-down Nilakshi de Silva salvaged their team from debacle contributing together 104 runs for the unbroken fourth wicket partnership and powered their team to reach the victory target.
Samarawickrama remained unbeaten with 69. Her 50-ball terrific innings was laced with eight fours and a sixer. She was adjudged the Player of the Match.
 Nilakshi remained unbeaten with 41. Her 38-ball knock saw two fours.
