Saturday’s road march: 600 BNP leaders, workers facing cases in 3 districts

Cases have been registered with different police stations in several districts against hundreds of BNP leaders and workers following the sporadic clashes between BNP and ruling party men as well as law enforcers during the Saturday’s road march.
The cases were filed in the police stations in Narayanganj, Sirajganj and Mymensingh districts.
A case was filed against 120 BNP leaders and workers including its International Affairs Secretary Nazrul Islam Azad following the clash with police during a road march in Araihazar.
Nur-e-Alam Siddique, Sub Inspector of Araihazar Police Station on Sunday filed the case against 50 persons with names mentioned while 70 others unknown. The detained BNP leader Yakub was sent to court, police said.
Two cases were filed against 400 BNP leaders and workers and police arrested 14 of them in connection with Saturday’s clash, arson attack and vandalising motorbikes in Sirajganj during the union level road march.
Deputy inspector of Sirajganj Sadar Police Station Saiful Islam and Sadar Awami League leader Jahangir Alam filed the two separate cases against the BNP men.
“Two cases were filed and 14 were arrested. Our drive is on to arrest the remaining accused persons,” Humayun Kabir, Officer-in-Charge of Sirajganj Sadar Police Station said.
In Mymensingh, a case was filed against 86 BNP leaders and workers for the alleged attack on police, explosion of cocktails and
obstruction against public duties. Sub Inspector Tridip Kumar Bir filed the case against 86 BNP leaders and workers including Mymensingh Jubo Dal leader Didarul Islam.
However, BNP alleged that the ruling party men and law enforcers attacked them and foiled their peaceful programme across the country on Saturday.
