Police arrest 3 DU students in robbery

Three students of Dhaka University (DU) have been arrested in charge of robbery worth of Tk 15,000 after blocking a covered van. Later the students were sent to court on Sunday.
The incident took place in front of the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) central mosque.
The police caught them red-handed while they were running away after robbing on Suturday night.
Shahbagh Police Station SI Omar Sani Nayeem confirmed the matter to media on Monday.
Police source said that they were demanded Tk 50,000 by blocking the covered van. When the covered van driver refused to pay, they extorted Tk 15,000 from the driver.
The arrestees are Fazle Nabid Sakil, student of Theater and Performance Studies Department, Md. Rahat Rahman, student of Management Department and Sadiq Ahmed, student of Social Welfare and Research Institute. All of them are students of 2021-22 academic session.
Abu Taher, the covered van driver, filed a case with Shahbagh Police Station over the incident.
SI Omar Sani said the three students demanded Tk 50,000 to a covered van driver and they later snatched away Tk 15,000 from the driver.
“We, the patrol team of police rushed to the spot after hearing the sound of driver’s shouting and caught them.”
