AL pushing the country towards chaos by calling counter-programme

Staff Reporter :
The opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) said that the ruling Awami League has been pushing the country towards chaos and violence in the name of calling counter-programme.
“Whenever BNP is announcing its programme, Awami League is also doing it on the same day as counter-programme. Thus they are creating chaos. Their party goons are attacking our leaders and workers who attend our programmes,” BNP Organising Secretary of Mymensingh Division Syed Emran Saleh Prince said on Monday.
He came up with the remarks in a press conference held in the BNP’s Central Party Office in Naya Paltan in the capital.
Recently BNP has called a road march programme to be held in all Unions across the country on February 11, while ruling Awami League has also announced to hold ‘peace rally’ on the same day.
Prince also alleged that the law enforcers have been detaining BNP’s leaders and workers instead of arresting the Awami League attackers.
“Our leaders and workers are being the target of attacks by the ruling party men. The law enforcers are not arresting the attackers rather our people are facing multiple fabricated cases. Those who are not present on the spot are also facing cases,” he observed.
He said that the government being terrified by the mass movement is resorting to repressions and torture to suppress the people’s movement.
“No suppression and repression can intimidate the people and the leaders and workers of BNP. Those who are afraid of peaceful programmes are isolated from the people. They are afraid of movement. Today people have stood up,” Prince said.
Lambasting the government for corruption and looting people’s assets, he said, “This is not a government of the people. They are an anti-people government. They have looted the wealth of the people and siphoned off money abroad. People are mired in various crises.”
Urging the government to stop repression, he said, “Stop the path of conflicts for the greater interest of the people and the democracy and step down by accepting the demand of the people.”
