Patient dies from smoke inhalation in DMCH fire

A man died from inhaling smoke when a fire broke out at a building of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) on Sunday afternoon.
The victim has been identified as Jashim Uddin, 61, a pneumonia patient.
Jashim’s son Mafiz Sarker said that his father was admitted to Ward 601 of DMCH new building on Saturday.
Jashim suffered inhalation of smoke after the fire broke out and tried to get out of the building.

the matter to The New Nation and said that the man fell sick and rushed to DMCH emergency ward and died there.
The flame was, however, doused in less than half an hour by hospital staffers and firefighters, and none was injured in the incident, said Bachchu.
The fire originated from an air conditioner on the corridor of kidney department where the patients were on dialysis, said the police officer.
