Facile victory for Dhaka Dominators in BPL Cricket

Dhaka Dominators registered a facile five-wicket victory over Fortune Barishal in their match of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Cricket at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.
Chasing Barishal’s total of 156 for the loss of eight wickets in the stipulated 20 overs, Dhaka coasted home making 157 for the loss of five wickets when they had seven balls to spare.
Barishal gained 12 points from nine matches, while Dhaka earned six points from 10 matches.
Dhaka had a solid start with two openers Mohammad Mithun and Soumya Sarkar contributed 74 runs for the opening partnership before Soumya was caught behind by wicketkeeper Anamul Haque off Karim Janat.
After Soumya’s dismissal, Mithun and Abdullah Al Mamun scored together 29 runs before Mithun was trapped leg before wicket by Sunzamul Islam when Dhaka’s score was 103 for the loss of two wickets.
Mithun hit a terrific 54. His 36-ball innings was belted with three sixes and six fours. Mithun was adjudged the Man of the Match.
Soumya struck a worthy 37. His 22-ball knock saw four fours and two sixes.
Abdullah Al Mamun made 26 from 21 balls featuring two sixes and one four.
Later, Nasir Hossain and Usman Ghani guided their team to reach the victory target.
Nasir remained unbeaten with 20 runs.
Shakib Al Hasan and Karim Janat captured two wickets each instead of 18 and 35 runs respectively.
Barishal had an auspicious start as openers Anamul Haque and Saif Hassan put on together 42 runs in the opening stand before Saif (15) was caught by Alex Blake off Amir Hamza.
Later, Mahmudullah Riyad and Salman Hossain built a notable partnership. They scored together 42 runs in the six-wicket stand before Riyad was caught by Amir Hamza off Shoriful Islam when Barishal’s score was 134 for the loss of six wickets.
Opener Anamul Haque notched up a sparkle 42. His 35-ball innings was studded with five fours and a sixer.
Mahmudullah hit a polished 39. His 27-ball knock was laced with four fours and two sixes.
Amir Hamza bagged a pair of wickets in the space of 22 runs, while Soumya Sarkar, Nasir Hossain, Muktar Ali, Salman Irshad and Shoriful Islam took one wicket each conceding 14, 15, 27, 31 and 43 runs respectively.
