Lohagara, (Chattogram) Correspondent :
Founder president of Lohagara Awami League and organizer and freedom fighter Safiur Rahman Road is now going to disappear in Tongkabati canal.
From the Chattogram -Cox’s Bazar Highway through West Hazarbigha to Hindupara and Tewarikhil, thousands of people travel through the four kilometer long road every day.
This is the easy road of communication between Padua Union residents and Lohagara. Due to which the importance of this road is immense for students, farmers and various professionals. In 2001, the government specially allotted for this road. Later in 2009, half a million rupees were allocated again. The road passing along the Tongkabati Canal is currently broken at various places due to the failure of the canal. At present the road is almost impassable.
Deloar Hossain, a local freedom fighter, said that in 1971, the Bahini of Pakistan invaded Hindupara, located next to this road. Pak soldiers burnt houses and shot dead 6 people. Later, I arranged for the entire homeless villagers to live in small tents in the courtyard of our house. He said, this road has many historical traditions. Therefore, the development of the road is essential.
