Dhaka’s air dangerous for living: Experts

A group of public health experts have said that the Dhaka’s air quality is more than worst for living.
They said this at a seminar titled ‘The responsibility of disastrous air pollution and searching way of control’ organised by Poribesh Bachao Andolon (POBA) on Saturday in Bishwo Shahitto Kendro auditorium.
In the seminar public health expert Dr Lenin Chowdhury presented the concept paper, health reporters forum president discussed on the subject related with pollution organisations and institutions and political leader Razekuzzaman Ratan discussed on the political leaders responsibility.
The seminar was chaired by POBA’s Chairman Abu Naser Khan.
In the concept paper, it was said that the air
quality of Bangladesh Capital Dhaka is going worst gradually. In the meantime, Dhaka turns the most dangerous city for living.
Concept paper presented last ten days (January 10 to January 20) air quality index (aqi) was 451, 474, 637, 559, 363, 479, 316, 233, 238, 307 and 314.
This aqi was recorded by Accuweather. According to aqi 0-50 is good air, 51-100 is moderate, 101-150 is unhealthy to sensitive persons, 151-200 is unhealthy for all, 201-300 is very unhealthy and 301+ is hazardous.
In the concept paper, experts suggested that when the aqi turns hazardous citizens like those who have respiratory system problem, asthma and breathe related should avoid go out.
