Rape case Fugitive accused arrested after 15 years in Kishoreganj

A fugitive convicted in a rape case named Sohel Mia (42) was arrested after 15 years by the Police in Kuliarchar of Kishoreganj.
Convicted Shohel Miah was arrested from Chattogram port city on Friday night.
On Saturday, he was sent to Kishoreganj district Jail. The convicted Sohel, son of Md. Ainab Ali of Kil band village in Kuliarchar upazila.
The Officer in Charge (OC) of Kuliachar Police Station Md. Golam Mostafa confirmed the matter to The New Nation.
According to the police, In 2008 Sohel had a love affair with a woman of Kuliarchar upazila. Sohail raped the woman with the temptation of marriage. Later ran away without marrying. Meanwhile, the woman became pregnant and gave birth to a baby.
 On March 15 of that year, the woman filed a case of rape at the police station. After 10 years in 2018, in the absence of the accused, The Woman and Child Torture Prevention Court in Kishoreganj sentenced Sohel to life imprisonment
