Rohingya gang held with 14 firearms in Teknaf

Bangladesh Coast Guard arrested six Rohingyas on charge of committing dacoity with 14 firearms, 486 rounds of bullets, drugs and law enforcement uniforms in a raid from Shahpori Island in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar.
Lt. Commander of Coast Guard (Media Officer) Abdur Rahman confirmed it in a press conference on Tuesday noon (January 3).
The arrested persons have been identified as Mohammad Ibrahim (23), son of one Hossain Ahmed, a resident of Rohingya camp number 13 in Teknaf, Arif Hossain (33), son of one Sultan Ahmed, Mahmudur Rahman (18), son of Noor Hakim, Amin (33), son of one Nurul Islam, a resident of Rohingya Camp-22 Unchuprang, Kaniz (24), son of one Hashem and Nabi Hossain, son of one Syed Ahmed, a resident of Rohingya Camp-14 in Balukhali area of Ukhia. 28).
At that time, conducting a combing operation in the forest of the island, Coast Guard found 2 foreign pistols, 3 Eknola guns, 2 LGs, one short gun, 6 domestic pistols, 4 pistol magazines, 450 rounds of fresh ammunition, 36 rounds of empty ammunition, 4 machetes, 2000 pieces yaba, 21 bottles of foreign liquor, 551 cans of beer, 7 sets of clothes used in robbery, one handcuff, one land phone, 4 button mobiles were seized.
Teknaf station commander Mohiuddin Zaman confirmed in a press briefing and said that based on secret information (January 2), an active armed robber group is preparing to rob a fishing boat in the estuary of Naf river adjacent to Shahpori Island. Based on such information, a special operation was conducted by Coast Guard Station St. Martin in the Naff River estuary at approximately 1 p.m. Sensing the presence of the Coast Guard during the operation, the robbers took their boats and tried to move quickly towards Teknaf from the Naf river estuary. Meanwhile, Station St. Martin gave chase to the pirates and alerted Teknaf Coast Guard Station, another raiding party followed the boat and gave chase. At one point the speed boat dropped off the robbers members at Khare Island near Rangikhali they hide in the forest of the island.
Later, two expeditionary groups from Coast Guard Station Teknaf and St. Martin jointly surrounded the island from all sides. During the operation, the Coast Guard surrounded the main hideout of the gang and arrested 6 armed robbers.
