January :
January 4, 2014 Guinness World Records certifies Bangladesh’s human flag as largest.
10th National Parliament Elections of Bangladesh 2014 was held on January 5. Bangladesh’s ruling Awami League has won a violent general election. 159 MPs elected unopposed. Sheikh Hasina elects as PM for historic third term on January 12, 2014.
Bangladeshi scientists have decoded the genome of buffalo becoming the first in the country to sequence DNA of any animal unveil on January 24.

February:

May:
India, world`s largest democracy, Lok Sabha polls 2014 was held in nine phases from April 07 to May 12 and the counting of votes on May 16, 2014. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by the Bharatiya Janata Party led by Narendra Modi, won a sweeping victory, taking 336 seats.

June:
Bangladesh Petroleum Exploration Company (Bapex) has discovered a new gas field at Rupganj in Narayanganj. It was officially declared on June 21, 2014.
June 29, Parliament passed the Tk 250506 crore national budget for FY 2014-’15.
Bangladesh formally launched the largest ‘National Web Portal (http://www.eprocure.gov.bd) of the Government on June 23.
July:
Bangladesh has won another maritime boundary dispute with India after the last one with Myanmar. The Permanent Court of Arbitration at Hague in Netherlands has awarded Bangladesh 19,467 square-kilometres out of total 25,602 square-kilometres disputed area with India in the Bay of Bengal on July 7.
August:

County’s foreign exchange (forex) reserve crossed the US$22 billion-mark for the first time on August 7.

September:

November:

December:
Despite low voter turnout, the governing party of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe won a landslide victory in parliamentary elections (47th general election of members of the House of Representatives) of Japan, which was held on 14 December 2014.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid a three day official trip to Malaysia on December 2.
