Ilias Kanchan on his first birthday as president

Today is the birthday of noted film actor, producer and director Ilias Kanchan. After becoming president of Bangladesh Film Artistes’ Association, today will be his first birthday. So, there is no planning by the actor but Film Artistes’ Association might have planned to celebrate the day. According to Ilias Kanchan, he will go to the Association’s office in the evening today. Before that, he will take part
in a seminar on tourism.
Ilias Kanchan told this correspondent, “Basically I do not celebrate my birthday or not to cut a cake in this regard. There is nothing to say about celebration of my birthday. Yes, it is true that Allah’s
blessing I came in this world on this day. Allah gave me a beautiful life.
I have come into my present position giving huge efforts. All were done by Allah’s blessings for me. As usual, today I will attend a seminar and then will go to the Association’s office. If anybody comes here to cut a cake I have nothing to say. In fact, I want everybody’s prays for me.”
Film actor Ilias Kanchan, hailed from Kishoreganj, completed 40 years of his
acting career in the silver screen
on December 31 in 2018. He first acted in late Subhash Dutta directed movie titled ‘Bashundhara.’ Kanchan first stood
in front of the camera on March 26 in 1977. On that year’s December 31, his debut movie ‘Bashundhara’ got released. Bobita acted opposite
him in this movie. From that time to 2017, every year Ilias Kanchan starrer movies were released. From that calculation, he acted in more than 350 movies till now.
In the silver screen, Ilias Kanchan got Champa, late Diti and Anju Ghosh as his co-actresses in most of his acted movies. He for the first time jointly produced two movies. These were: ‘Shorporani’ and ‘Boner Moto Bon.’ Later, he individually produced movies ‘Badshah Bhai,’ ‘Matir Kosom,’ ‘Khuni Ashami,’ ‘Bod Surot,’ ‘Banchar Lorai,’ ‘Munna Mastan,’ etc. ‘Matir Kosom’ was 100th movie of his acting career. In his career, Anju and he lent their voices for playback song for Baburaj directed movie ‘Pashan.’ He also gave direction of two movies. These were: ‘Baba Aamar Baba’ and ‘Mayer Swapno.’
He got the National Film Award for acting in Alamgir Kabir directed ‘Parineeta.’
It is noted that Ilias Kanchan announced ‘Nirapod Sorok Chai’ (Wants Safe Roads) as the national
movement and since 2018, October 22 is being observed as the National Safety Day.
