Manpower sending to Malaysia reduced for syndicate

Speakers in the International Migrants Day programme in the capital said that manpower sending to Malaysia has been disrupted seriously by the syndicate.
The programme was organized by the ministry of Expatriates’ welfare and overseas employment at the Osmany Memorial Auditorium in the city.
Imran Ahmed, the Expatriates’ Welfare Minister said that his ministry was working for safe migration.
The minister says that the government has planned to send minimum one thousand workers abroad from every upazila annually. Not only that the government is planning to arrange pensions for the migrant workers.
“We are planning to take pension system for the migrant workers who are contributing enough for our national economy,” the minister said while addressing as the Chief Guest of the event.
He also said that there is no alternative to earn more and to survive in competitions in international labour markets without providing skilled manpower.
He said that the government has established technical training institutes to upazila levels so that skilled manpower can be created.
Meanwhile, Anisul Islam Mahmud, the President of the Parliamentary standing committee on the Expatriates’ Welfare Ministry, said that syndicate is liable for sending less manpower to Malaysia.
” Demand for about 1.50 lakh workers were recieved from Malaysia, but only 30 thousand workers have gone there. It is syndicate which is responsible for sending such less manpower to the country,” Anisul Islam Mahmud MP said in the event during giving speech as the special guest of the event.
He said that there are 1,600 recruiting agencies in the country while only 100 of them are allowed to send workers to Malaysia. Dr. Ahmed Munisrus Saleheen, Secretary of the Expatriates’ Welfare Ministry presided over the event.
Bangladesh Association of International Recruiting Agencies (BAIRA) President Mohammad Abul Bashar, Md. Shafiqul Islam, Additional Secretary of the Expatriates’ welfare ministry, AbdusSattar Esoev, Chief of Mission of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and other officials of the ministry. Later, various events including crest giving ceremony among the expatriates and stipend giving ceremony to the expatriates’ children and cultural programme were held.
