Dutch citizen awarded in Manikganj

Antoinette Termoshuizen is a Dutch citizen. She had been working for education, health, rehabilitation and rights of children with disabilities in Bangladesh for 30 years.
During his academic career, he set out to travel the world by bicycle with his friends, but his momentum stopped when he came to Bangladesh. She saw a child with severe physical disabilities during a break at Falsatia bus stand under Shibalaya Police Station in Manikganj . He talked to him. Seeing that disabled child crawling on the road, he felt a lot of pain that day.
So she abandoned his world travel plans and returned to his home country and collected funds and returned to Bangladesh. He works with disabled children and adolescents through the organization Disabled Rehabilitation and Research Association (DRRA). She worked extensively in Ghior and Daulatpur upazilas of Manikganj district. Providing education, health and rehabilitation services to children through two day-care centers on its own campus in Ghior upazila. She is working hard to build a united society and create a disability friendly society.
During the covid-19 global disaster, she has supported needy children with cash and food. She also assisted families of disabled children with rickshaws, vans, sewing machines, sewing materials and fertilizer seeds to overcome financial hardship.
Disabled children of Ghior Upazila are no longer a burden to the family and society, they are living with respect and dignity. Initially, it started working with only 10 disabled children in a rented house and currently around 2000 disabled children are receiving juvenile services under the project in its own campus. She keeps all the children under the blanket of her kindness, so the children call her Khalamma.
She worked to improve the quality of life of disabled people and integrate them into the mainstream of society by being associated with Ghior and Daulatpur Upazila Administration. In recognition of her great work – Ghior upazila administration felicitated her with a bouquet of flowers and presented a memento.
Md. Habibur Rahman Habib, Chairman, Ghior Upazila Parishad, Mr. Md. Mohsen Uddin, Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land), Mr. Md. Abdul Mannan, Upazila Social Service Officer, Ghior recently handed over the award to this noble woman. Officials of all departments of upazila administration and DRRA were also present in the event.
