University halls become torture cell: Anu Muhammad

Jahangirnagar University Economics Department Professor Anu Muhammad criticized the universities’ hall atmosphere and the appointment system of Vice-Chancellor.
He said that the public university halls now have become a torture factories and the appointment system of Vice-Chancellor of the university are the fast step to destroy the purpose of the university
He also claimed that the main criterion for appointing a Vice-Chancellor is whether he is loyal to the government or not.
Anu Muhammad made this remark at a seminar titled ‘University Education and Teachers’ held at Gonoshasthaya Nagar Hospital in the capital on Saturday.
“The appointment of the Vice-Chancellor is the first step to ruin the university’s learning ambiance. That person will be appointed, who can pleases the government. Obligation or obedience to the government will be his main identity,” Prof Anu Muhammad said.
Criticizing the student torture at the university hall, he said, “University halls are torture factories. There is no opportunity for a student to go to class and study properly. It will be enough for the students if they maintain close relationship with the government.”
