Nine arrested in connection with Tanu murder case

Some nine persons including Farid Shaikh (29), the ring leader were arrested by the police of Bagerhat from a house of the village Balipara under Indurkani Upazila in Pirojpur district at Saturday in connection with the sensational murder of Nur-e-Alam Tanu Bhuiya, General Secretary of Bagerhat district Sweschsebak Dal, a front organization of BNP (Bangladesh National Party). A pistol and a magazine used in the murder and an unused cartridge were recovered from their possession by the police. After a primary police interrogation it is learnt from the arrested persons that the cause behind the murder is rivalry between the two (deceased and Farid Shaikh) over the expansion of supremacy in the localities and drug trading. It was disclosed by K M Ariful Haq, Police Super of Bagerhat in a press briefing held in his office on Sunday noon.
In connection with the murder Kanij Fatima, wife of deceased Tanu Bhuiya lodged a case with Bagerhat Model PS as the plaintiff against 17 persons mentioning their names and against 7/8 persons without mentioning their names at Saturday night.
