Ibrahim’s goal makes history for Fortis FC

Last time, Abahani Limited lost to Kyrgyzstan’s Muras United. Mohammad Ibrahim was a member of that team.
This time, he took the field against Muras United again-but this time the story was different. Instead of defeat, he got the taste of victory.
And with Ibrahim’s precious goal, Fortis FC made history by defeating Muras United 1-0 in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Challenge League qualifiers at the Bashundhara Kings Arena in the capital on Tuesday.
Fortis Coach Masud Parvez Kaisar also made history by winning for the first time in an AFC tournament.
After defeating Muras United, Fortis FC will now play in the group stage of the competition.
Fortis adopt a careful strategy from the beginning of the match. Their plan was to keep their defense tight and try to score goals from counter-attacks. There were eight foreigners in the team.
Fortis got a good chance in the 22nd minute. Pa Omar Babou attacked from the left side of the box and found Muras goalkeeper Orest Kostyk alone.
He also beat Kostyk with a left-footed shot. But when the ball hit the side post and went out, frustration increased in the Fortis FC’s camp.
Muras United continued to increase the pressure after the break. However, Fortis goalkeeper Sujan Perera frustrated them twice.
Then, in the 52nd minute, Ibrahim scored against the run of play to give Fortis FC the lead.
Ibrahim received the ball from Pa Omar Babou, entered the box and took control of the ball with a light touch of his right foot.
Then, he took a left-footer shot. The ball went under the body of the Kyrgyz goalkeeper and found the net. Fortis went 1-0 ahead.
Muras goalkeeper Orest Kostyk wasted a chance to increase Fortis’ lead by making a double save in the 56th minute.
Kostyk blocked the ball from the goal line before it hit the post after Pa Omar Babou’s corner kick.
Ananta Tamang got the return ball and cut back to Arik Bista. Kostyk jumped to the right and saved his shot for a corner.
Muras United had another big chance in the 74th minute. Muras United got a penalty when Madanov Yryskeldi’s shot hit Arik Bista’s hand in the box.
From there, Erbol Atabaev wasted the opportunity to equalize. His right-footer hit the side post and came back. As a result, Fortis retained the lead.
In the remaining time, both teams controlled the ball and tried to score. But no more goals were scored.
After the final whistle, Fortis FC was elatet after defeating their strong opponent Muras United in their home field. Such a victory in their debut in the AFC Challenge League has opened the door to new possibilities for them.
