5 Biman officials remanded

A Dhaka court on Saturday placed five officials and employees of Biman Bangladesh Airlines on a six-day remand on charge of involvement in disclosing an enrollment question paper prior to the exam.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shanta Akhter passed the order after hearing both sides.
The accused are Awlad Hossain, 21, Md Jahangir Alam, 36, Enamul Haque, 28, Md Harun-ur Rashid, 40 and Mahfuzul Alam, 31.
As they were produced before the court this morning, the police pleaded for granting a 10-day remand for the sake of proper investigation into the scam.
Earlier on Friday, the recruitment examinations for 100 posts of the national carrier agency were suspended due to the allegations of question paper leak.
Police in subsequent action, arrested the Biman officials and employees for their alleged involvement in question paper leak on Friday night.
Meanwhile, Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) is going to interrogate more officials of Biman Bangladesh Airlines for their alleged involvement in leaking recruitment examination question papers.
Additional Police Commissioner (DB) Mohammad Harun-or-Rashid revealed the matter in a press conference at DMP media center on Saturday noon (October 22).
DB chief said that Biman Bangladesh Airlines was scheduled to hold an examination on Friday (October 21). But, the questions of the written test were leaked and detectives got the information. Then, we started to investigate the issue.
Harun also said that the leaked questions of the Biman Bangladesh Airlines recruitment exam were sold for Tk two to seven lakh.
Asked whether any member of the committee is involved with the gang, Harun said they are investigating it.
Five junior officers and employees of Biman Bangladesh Airlines have been arrested already. More officials of the organization were involved with the crime. They leaked the questions and distributed those through whatsapp, he added.
Earlier, Detective Branch of Lalbagh Division arrested five Biman Bangladesh Airlines officials and employees for their alleged involvement in cheating with the recruitment examination of Biman Bangladesh Airlines. The arrested are identified as Awlad Hossain, Md Jahangir Alam, Enamul Haque, Md Harun-or-Rashid and Mahfuzul Alam.
