9 fishermen held in Bhairab

A mobile court of Fisheries Department conducted drives at Shambupur, Lakshmi-pur, and Jahangirpur areas in old Brahmaputra river under Bhairab upazila of Kishoreganj and they detained at least nine fishermen on Thursday noon.
The mobile court also seized two lakh meters of current nets and 70 ring nets during raids in the Brahmaputra river.
 The operation led by Executive Magistrate and Assistant Commissioner (AC) land of Bhairab, Julhas Hossain Shorab , ordered the seized nets to be burnt and destroyed. Besides, each of the arrested fishermen was fined Tk. 2000. They were released on bail after paying the fine.
At this time senior upazila fisheries officer Latifur Rahman Sujan, officer in charge of Bhairab Naval Police Station and Saidur Rahman were present.
