Inauguration of nuclear reactor of second unit of Rooppur Project on 19 Oct

The inauguration of installation programme of reactor pressure vessel (nuclear reactor), the main device of the second unit of Ruppur nuclear power plant under construction in Ishwardi on October 19. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will officially inaugurate the installation of this reactor reactor through a video conference. On Tuesday afternoon, after the two-round meeting of the monitoring committee, the Project Director Dr. Shaukat Akbar confirmed the installation of the furnace to Ittefaq. Alexei Likhachev, Director General of the Russian Atomic Energy Agency Rosatom, will attend the event as a special guest. Project Director Dr. Shaukat Akbar said, we are working to implement the project as soon as possible. In the meantime, 75 percent of the physical-infrastructure work of the first unit has been completed.
Monitoring committee president and Rajshahi divisional commissioner GSM Zafarullah presided over the meeting. He said that Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has virtually given her kind consent for the auspicious inauguration of the reactor of the second unit of Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant on October 19. This project is a milestone in the history of the country.
The meeting held in the conference room of Green City Residential’s ‘RNPP’ building was attended by Pabna Deputy Commissioner Biswas Russel Hossain, Superintendent of Police Akbar Ali Munsi and officials of Rooppur project and administration.
Earlier, on October 10, 2021, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the installation of the reactor pressure vessel of the first unit through video conferencing from Dhaka.
Two units of 1,200 and 1,200 units of third plus generation with a total power generation capacity of 2,400 MW are being constructed at Rooppur in Ishwardi in collaboration with the Russian state nuclear power corporation Rosatom. It is the biggest project in the history of Bangladesh. The work of the Rooppur project did not stop for a day even in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. About 25-26 thousand local and foreign people have worked day and night in this project in three shifts every day.
