Biman sends engineers to Rome to repair grounded aircraft

Biman Bangladesh Airlines has sent a team of engineers along with the required spare parts to Rome to repair the aircraft that developed a technical fault.

It’s expecting delay of BG-306 flight on Toronto-Rome-Dhaka route to reach the capital tomorrow morning.

The aircraft scheduled to fly from Rome’s Fiumicino Airport (FCO) yesterday remains grounded at the airport following the technical glitch, Biman said in its latest update today.

The airline said the engineering team and spare parts are being transported to Rome on BG305 of 8 August, which is scheduled to arrive at 6:50 pm Rome local time.

Subject to the successful completion of repair work and the required technical and safety inspections, BG306 of August 8 is expected to depart Rome for Dhaka at 10:00 pm Rome local time, it said.

The flight is likely to arrive at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at around 10:30am Bangladesh time tomorrow.

Earlier, Biman said its Toronto-Rome-Dhaka flight BG306 was delayed after the aircraft developed a technical fault at Rome Fiumicino Airport, forcing the airline to also delay Dhaka-Rome-Toronto flight BG305, which was scheduled to be operated by the same aircraft.

The national flag carrier arranged hotel accommodation, meals and other necessary assistance for passengers stranded in Rome and reiterated that passenger safety remains its highest priority.

Biman said passengers would continue to receive regular updates on the flight situation.
