Sabina reaches Maldives

Captain of Bangladesh Women’s Football team Sabina Khatun reached Maldives on Friday to take part in the Maldives Women’s Futsal competition. The actual name of the football meet is Club Maldives Cup 2022.
Japan-born Bangladeshi footballer Matsushima Sumaiya will play with her. Matsushima Sumaiya has played for Bashundhara Kings in Women’s Football League of Bangladesh.
This is for the fifth times Sabina Khatun went to Maldives to play in the domestic football competition of Maldives. Sabina Khatun and Matsushima Sumaiya will play for Maldives Army Club.
Before leaving Dhaka for Maldives, Sabina Khatun gave a status on her Facebook. She wrote, “Off to Maldives. Keep us in your prayer. For the upcoming Club Maldives Cup 2022.”
‘Goal Machine’ Sabina Khatun showed a spectacular performance in the recently concluded SAFF Women’s Championship in Nepal. Bangladesh Women’s Football team defeated Nepal Women’s Football team by 3-1 goals in the final at Dasharath Rangasala Stadium in Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal. Bangladesh Women’s Football team emerged the unbeaten champions in the gala football competition.
Sabina Khatun scored hat-trick against Pakistan and Bhutan. She scored two goals against Maldives. Sabina scored total eight goals in this prestigious football tournament. Sabina was adjudged the ‘Player of the Match’ in three matches of the SAFF Women’s Championship. She was adjudged the ‘Best Player of the Tournament’ and also the highest scorer of the football competition.
It may be mentioned that Sabina Khatun scored 32 goals from 48 matches wearing the jersey of Bangladesh National Women’s Football team. She scored 22 goals in her SAFF Women’s Championship campaign.
Sabina & Co. were accorded reception by many institutions after returning home. They also got a good amount of money.
