‘Bangladesh will put up a competitive fight in SA’

Bangladesh have a tour of South Africa coming up. The Bangladesh cricket team is set to travel South Africa (SA) next November to play a series comprising two Tests, three ODIs, and three T20 matches.

South African legend AB de Villiers sees a strong possibility of the Bangladesh team performing well.

The reason, Bangladesh team’s performance in Australia. They made history by defeating Australia by nine wickets in the first Test in Darwin.

Although they lost by an innings within just two days in the second Test in Mackay, drawing the Test series 1-1 on Australian soil is a magnificent result for Bangladesh.

After the Bangladesh team’s victory in Darwin, de Villiers posted a video on his YouTube channel, ‘360’. In it, the former batsman praised the Bangladesh team and also discussed their upcoming tour of South Africa.

De Villiers said, “I think Bangladesh will put up a competitive fight in South Africa. But South Africa is one of the toughest places in the world, especially for batsmen.

The ball doesn’t just swing; it moves off the seam and shifts after pitching. Not many players are accustomed to this, so facing it is very difficult.”

De Villiers also advised the Bangladeshi batsmen on how to bat in such conditions.

He believes, Bangladeshi batsmen don’t need to completely overhaul their batting technique to perform well in South Africa.

“There is no need to suddenly start playing a wide range of shots. You just need to make small changes that force the bowler to alter their plans, “He said.

Bangladesh have played eight Test matches in South Africa so far without winning a single one. In twelve ODIs, they have secured only two victories.

They have lost all four T20 matches played there. Bangladesh is set to play the first match of the Test series in Johannesburg on November 15.

The first match of the ODI series will take place on December 1, and the T20 series will begin on December 10.
