Zaglul Ahmed’s burial today

Staff Reporter :Former Managing Director and Chief Editor of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Zaglul Ahmed Chowdhury will be laid to eternal rest at Azimpur Graveyard after Asr prayers today (Monday). The 67-year old renowned journalist died in Comfort Hospital at Green Road after he was badly injured while getting down from a passenger bus at Karwan Bazar intersection in the city on Saturday.His first Namaz-e-Janaza will be held at Banani Mosque after Zohr prayers and the second Janaza at the National Press Club premises after Asar prayers, said Nabir Ahmed Chowdhury, son of Zaglul Ahmed Chowdhury. “We are waiting for the return of Zaglul Ahmed’s daughter Antara Ahmed Chowdhury, who lives in US,” he said.The body will be brought to his Banani residence in the morning from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) mortuary. The deceased left behind his wife, a son and a daughter to mourn his death. He hailed from Piam village under Madhabpur upazila in Habiganj district. Zaglul Ahmed was made Chief Editor and Managing Director of the state-run Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) in November, 2006. He was last serving as Consulting Editor of The Financial Express.He served as a special correspondent of the new agency for 35 years. He also worked as diplomatic correspondent for the major part of his career. He authored a number of books, including ‘Bangladesh’s Relations with India, Myanmar and Nepal: The Impact on Citizens and Development’ and ‘Global Flashpoint: South Asia and Middle East’ apart from many write-ups on politics and foreign relations.
