Agitation withdrawan at minister's assurance
BAU students back to classes
BAU(Mymensingh): Students of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) brought out a procession protesting armed showdown of miscreants on the campus on Tuesday.

The agitating students of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) returned to their classes and scheduled examinations yesterday after getting assurance from Religious Affairs Minister Md Motiur Rahman to take necessary steps against the culprits who committed militant activity on the campus. The students were protesting the militant activity of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activist of district unit allegedly led by its president Md Jasim Uddin.
Sources said, a team of the agitating students, mainly backed by BAU unit BCL, met Religious Affairs Minister Md Motiur Rahman at his residence in Mymensingh on Wednesday evening where they got assurance of solution of the ongoing problem as quick as possible. After getting assurance the students went back to classes and scheduled examinations from Thursday. But they issued an ultimatum to go further demonstration if any steps would not be taken within 24 November.
Md Tayfur Rahman Riad, a member of the delegation team and Vice-President of Students Association of agriculture faculty said, we have withdrawn our agitation as minster assured us about the solution. We have also backed to classes considering the admission process of the fresher under 2014-15 session which is scheduled on 23 November.
It is mentionable that a group of BCL activists led by Md Jasim Uddin, president of BCL Mymensingh district unit, staged armed showdown, blasted cocktails and fired bullets on Monday evening on the campus. After that incidents the students agitating on the campus demanding punishment of the attackers and ensure security of the students.
Militant activities protested
Earlier, boycotting classes and examinations, students of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) on Tuesday staged demonstration against second consecutive day against the militant activities allegedly done by outsider miscreants and demanded immediate arrest and punishment to the criminals.
On Monday evening, some outsider miscreants led by Md Jasim Uddin, president of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Mymensingh district unit, riding 20-25 motor bikes staged armed showdown on the campus. At that time they blasted 2 cocktails and fired 2 rounds of bullets in front of Shaheed Shamsul Haque Hall of BAU.
