3 pistols, 83 bullets seized in city

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive seized at least three foreign made pistols, three magaizes, 83 bullets, various country-made arms and arms manufacturing materials from the city’s Purana Paltan area on Monday afternoon.
They have arrested at least five persons in this connection. The identity of the arrested men could not be known immediately, RAB officials said. RAB’s Media Wing Assistant Director Major Maksusul Alam said that a team of RAB-3 conducted a drive in Purana Paltan, Bijoynagar and Kakrail areas following information and arrested them. They also recovered the firearms and 100 pieces of Yaba pills, at least seven cell phones, some mobile Subscriber Identity Modules (SIM), gold chains and rings from their possession.
The arrested men confessed when interrogated that they were connected with various criminal activities, including snatching and robbery in the city, the RAB official said.
A legal action would be taken against them in this connection, he said.
