Rivalries of CU BCL resolved

Under the directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the rivalries between the two factions of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) of Chittagong University (CU) unit had been resolved in a meeting on Saturday night.
The meeting was held at the residence of former Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) mayor and the President of the Chittagong city Awami League ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury.
After the successful meeting, all the leaders and activists of both the groups of BCL merrily went to the CU campus on Sunday. They vowed to resist all the bad elements together on the campus in order to maintain a congenial academic atmosphere.
The meeting was attended by ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury, city AL general secretary AJM Nasiruddin, CU VC Prof Anwarul Azim Arif, and other local leaders of BCL.
The meeting held at 10:00pm, decided to work together on the campus, not to create any untoward incident that may deteriorate law and order situation on the campus.
The activists and the leaders who would violate the decision of the meeting would be dealt with severely including the expulsion from the organisation.
Under the directives of the PM, the local leaders of the ruling Awami League and the Chittagong University authorities arranged the meeting.
The PM expressed her dissatisfaction over the recent activities of the BCL activists in and around the campus of the Chittagong University during her latest visit in Chittagong.
Of the two factions, one is led by Amit Kumar Basu and Suman Mamun, vice president and joint general secretary respectively of the recently dissolved BCL CU unit, while another faction is led by Jalal Ahmed and Ariful Islam, office secretary and organising secretary of the same committee respectively.
These two factions frequently engaged in clashes to establish supremacy on the campus. The Amit-led group was ousted from the campus eight months ago after it failed to maintain its sway in the face of opposition from Jalal and his followers.
